The Commercial Department of the Israeli Embassy to Bucharest, the Israeli Institute for Export and International Cooperation and Grupul Roman pentru Investitii si Consultanta (RGIC) organized within the international exhibit INDAGRA FARM 2010, a business forum in the fields agriculture and rural development, within Shavit Programme Romania.
The event gathered Israeli companies specialized in technologies for greenhouses and dairy cow farms and Romanian farmers beneficiaries or potential beneficiaries of European funding.
The manifestation was honored by the presence of the new ambassador of Israel in Bucharest, His Excellence Dan Ben-Eliezer- on a first meeting with the Romanian farmers since being named ambassador – who appreciated the collaboration in this field of the two countries. Also, the conference was attended by Yifat Inbar – Economic and Commercial Attaché of the Israeli Embassy to Bucharest, Gheorghe Reman – Manager within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Otilia Manta – President/CEO Grupul Roman pentru Investitii si Consultanta (RGIC).
The Romanian farmers from several counties of the country showed interest towards the Israeli technologies in the field of dairy cow farms, as well as greenhouses and irrigations. Although the Romanian agriculture is affected by the economic crisis, the participation and interest of the Romanian farmers proved that there is potential for the development of a business in rural environment.
In the second part of the Forum, bilateral meeting took place, between Israeli investors and companies and Romanian farmers, occasion on which Ms Otilia Manta, declared that: "The organization of this business forum, on its second edition, proved availability and collaboration intentions from all those involved in this extensive and strategic project: Israeli companies, Romanian farmers, officials. For us, as initiators, together with the Economic Department of the Israeli Embassy to Bucharest and the Israeli Institute for Export and International Cooperation of Shavit Programme Romania, this availability shows that we are on the right track!"
